Owner's description
A spacious, level, well drained caravan and campsite of some 7 acres set in the centre of 2000 hectares of Forestry Commission forest with marked trails and handicap walks - the Rendlesham Forest Centre is adjacent to the site. Don't forget to bring your cycle to explore the area - cycle path maps are available in the shop. Forest Enterprise arrange special events during the year including a visit to the landing site of a UFO in the forest!
You will be staying in a designated Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty and close to the Suffolk Heritage Coast. Felixstowe is the main seaside resort but for many the charms of Aldeburgh with its world renowned Music Festival or Southwold, which has resisted commercial pressures to change, may be more appealing.
For those interested in history a visit to Dunwich, which was a major town before being swallowed up by the sea, would be worthwhile. There are castles to visit at Framlingham and Orford. At nearby Orfordness you will find pagoda style buildings and a profusion of broadcasting aerials which over the years led to many rumours as the public were not allowed on this small strip of land. To discover the reasons for the secrecy you can now visit by catching a ferry from Orford.
Whatever you would like to do we will try to point you in the right direction.
