My wife and I took our boys to this site, which was their first trip to Yorkshire. We had a very pleasant stay in the lovely and spacious, family-friendly retreat so we hope to be taking them there more often. The owner was very friendly and helpul and the site and its facilities are obviously very well cared for. Excellent location, close to all attractions of the historic city of York and with great links to the Coast and local beauty spots. All in all there was a wonderful atmosphere and all our fellow holidaymakers seemed to be enjoying themselves too.

Visited York Caravan Park a couple of times last year & found it to be an OK site & have just returned from our 3rd visit but found things had altered slightly as it was alot busier than it was last year.
Not enough toilets & showers & they weren't overly clean, no Soap to wash your hands after going to the toilet ( a basic Hygiene Essential in this day & age), lights had been put on a PIR sensor so they constantly went out after 20/30 seconds, timer set far too short & same for the showers.
Pitches were looking tired already, grass wearing very thin in places & ground very hard, felt like they were neither grass nor hardstanding.
What I would say is this is quite cheap for a Superpitch, but the pitches are so large & you share bollards with the pitch next door that to use it as a superpitch you need extremely long waste & fresh water pipes, basically it is impractical therefore you just connect up normally & have to still fill & empty as normal!!

Hello John.
I'm sorry that you felt that being busy was not to your liking, however it was the weekend of York Races, coupled with very good weather - even so, there were only 20 pitches full. We are usually much quieter mid-week.
The toilet and shower block was designed by a well known caravan site amenity specialist to cope with 50 tourers, for just 20 pitches we have 7 showers, 7 toilets, 2 urinals, 11 sinks and a sluice.
The toilet and shower block is cleaned twice a day, once in the morning by contract cleaners, and in the afternoon by staff members. I'm sorry that you found they were't 'overly clean'. I will speak to my cleaners about this and ensure it is kept spotless. Unfortunately, there are a minority of people who kept taking the soap dispensors home with them, but new, wall mounted dispensors are now in place - which shouldn't go missing!
The lights on PIR sensors have been adjusted to stay on for longer.
There is nothing that can be done about the grass looking tired or the ground being hard - we had 2 weeks of very hot weather and this had dried out the ground.
I'm sorry that you feel the pitches are so large that you had problems with reaching the electric, water and TV hook-ups. A standard 25m cable is more than sufficient to reach from all hardstanding and grass pitches - I think that even the very large corner pitches are only 6m away from the hookups.
It is a shame that you thought we are an 'OK' site, as only a week before your stay we were awarded a 92% and 5 Stars Tourist Board rating.
Thank you for your comments,
Regards
YCP.
