How to get there
From M6 junction 40 take A66 West for 1.9 miles. Turn right signposted Newbiggin. At junction with B5288 at Clickham Inn turn left signposted Greystoke. In centre of Greystoke turn left signposted Johnby 1.25 miles. Continue through Johnby to crossroads 2.7 miles past Johnby. Turn left signposted Newsham 1.5 miles. Thanet Well is 250 yards on the left.
Nearby tourist attractions
The market town of Penrith is only 8 miles to the east as the crow flies. The immediate area at Thanet Well offers excellent walking and cycling and easy access to a leisurely afternoon on the golf course or perhaps a local shopping trip to one of the nearby centres.
For the more adventurous there is hang-gliding, climbing, paragliding, white water canoeing, dinghy sailing and mountain biking all within easy reach.
