Clover Fields Touring Caravan Park,Buxton, Derbyshire
'Outstanding' doesn't say enough about this site..!
We chose this site based on the reviews we have seen on the web. It only seems to get fantastic reviews from everyone who visits - and now we know why..!
We have just spent 4 days at the site, but from the e-mails exchanged between Jan and myself in advance of our stay, I felt we were already old friends when we arrived. You can't help but like Jan..! She greeted us on our arrival, gave us a choice of pitches and then asked if we'd like a paper delivering each morning..!
Once we'd settled in, we popped across to see Jan's 'shop' and bought some local home cured bacon which tastes just like bacon should - none of your watery, wafer thin, tasteless supermarket stuff..! Whilst I'm on the subject, I should also mention the home-made apple chutney (which we finished off in 3 days..!) and the Happy Eggs from Jan's totally 'free-to-range-where-ever-they-like' hens. All I'll say is, they are to die for..!
The toilets and showers are probably the best I've seen on a site for a long while - clean and well appointed with lovely decor and beautiful tiles.
The pitches themselves are the biggest we've seen - two thirds hard standing and one third grass - with privacy hedges between each pitch. Each pitch has electric hook-up, mains water, its own bin and of course, a barbeque..!
One of the many benefits for us on this site is the provision of a dog walking area. Whilst many sites claim to provide an area for dogs they are usually sadly lacking (we recently stayed at a CC site in Scotland and were so disappointed - the dog walk was a tiny strip of land by the loch that shrank to near nothing when the tide came in..!). Not so at Clover Fields - the dogs get a whole field with bins and bags strategically placed AND 'pee-poles' for the boy dogs..! Fantastic..!
I think it's the attention to detail and the personal touch shown by Jan and her family that makes this site top of our list.
Thanks for thinking of everything..!
See you again (and again..!) real soon

There is very little that anyone can say about this site. On the other hand there could be so much that should be said.
All the facilities are first class, clean, up to date and more than anyone could expect. "Would like a newspaper and or milk delivering in the morning?" (where else can you get tnat kind of consideration?) Running short of food, cleaning equipment, spares for the awning ....... the list is endless.
Absolutely nothing is too much trouble to this very capable young lady and her family.
FABULOUS is the best that I can come up with.
See you again and again Jan and Steve.

If Carlsberg did campsites...... This is the absolute best campsite I have ever been to!
Jan and Stephen were very friendly, nothing was too much trouble, the site itself is immaculate, with a fantastic, spotless, toilet, shower, washing up and utility block. You could have eaten your dinner off the toilet floors (if you had wished!!), even after heavy rain.
I have stayed on sites so much more expensive than this and the standards don't even come close to Clover Fields (hell I've stayed in some hotels where the standards also fall way, way, way short of Clover Fields!). I hardly dare recommend it for fear it will be booked up next time I want to visit - which I plan on doing as soon as possible - I will need to stock up with meat... they offer fresh sausages, wonderful dry cure bacon, fresh free range eggs, black pudding etc at the little site shop, as well as that you can order stuff to take home with you.
My sister who was on holiday with me and is a novice camper was completely impressed... in fact I think Clover Fields will have ensured she goes camping again in the future.
Thanks to Jan and Stephen for a wonderful stay

Well what can I say . . I ventured here with my other half directly after picking up our new caravan so it was our first outing in it!
When I arrived I was welcomed by Jan who runs the site. She was really friendly from the start and it is clear she is passionate about her site. The site has electic gates accessed by an electronic key code so you feel you're in a safe and secure place as soon as you arrive.
We were told to pitch where we like and found a great spot at the end in pitch 10. Every pitch is hardstanding with a grassed area for your awning along with your own personal rubbish bin, light on top of your electric connection box and a cold tap as standard. They even throw in a BBQ to use free of charge on every pitch if the weather is fine!
We settled in easily and about 6.30pm we had a knock from jan to see if we had settled in ok, asking if we wanted a paper or milk delivering to the caravan door in the morning.... great service.
The toilets and showers put many peoples home to shame and are better than many hotels.
We didnt pay til we left and were told that there is no throwing off time or extra fees to pay but for us to leave when we are ready.
Overall a great experience even if it was really cold! We will be returning and I would recommend it to anyone as a fantastic, fair priced and great site with great owners.

This is probably the most difficult thing I have ever done! When you find something astounding, your in built selfishness kicks in and you don't ever want to share it with anyone else! We have stayed at the site three times, in the depths of winter and throughout the rest of the year. Only one thing remained consistent. Perfection. Jan and Steven are the perfect hosts, the site is of such a high standard that I would not hesitate to recommend it to anyone and have!! Everyone who has been on our say so has enjoyed it every bit as much as we did every time they went.
The facilities are spotlessly clean, fresh and new. The walks are spectacular and the proprietors flexible, understanding, helpful and thoroughly mad.
If you are considering going then please, please don't tell anyone else!

Clover Fields thank you for a very enjoyable 8 nights.
This sie was recommended to us by friends who had not even stayed there, word of mouth is a strong recommendation. We read the reviews, all true and to the point, Jan &steve have a site with a 5 star standard. We will make a point of staying at Clover Fields again and have no problem recommending it.
Thank you once again

Had the most fab week, the weather was great, and the site was all we could have wished for.
Our pitch was close to the immaculate loos and toilets - they put mine at home to shame! The utility has a very reasonably priced washing machine and drier (had to do some washing as we were running out of clean shorts & t's!).
The animals were fab, our kids enjoyed feeding them all, and Iparticularly liked the donkeys.
Jan was lovely, remembering both our and our girls names, even though we were only there for a week,
The bacon and very free range eggs were worth the visit alone,
but on top of that, having your own water supply, BBQ and bin - an excellent site, we will be back - and soon, I hope.
and once again, thanks to Jan for the girls piggy banks, they have been asking for money to put in them ever since, we will be asking them to pay the pitch fees next time.

My husband and I are first time campers! When I telephoned and spoke to Jan the owner she was helpful friendly and assured me that we would be ok.
We found the site easily even in torrential rain thunder and lightening! She came out to meet us and made sure that we knew where we were going. The site was more than ok, for a first timer I was pleased that I had booked such a lovely site.
Not only are Jan and Steve great hosts but the facilities were very clean very well maintained and nothing was too much trouble.
There are two showers for the whole site but not once over the weekend did we queue and the site was fully booked. There was plenty of hot water to go around.
The shop sells all sorts of things such as plates, cutlery, waste pipe, wind breakers, chairs and gas bottles including washing up liquid - that we forgot! It doenst sell any food apart from some eggs bacon and milk - the essential breakfast items.
The site is set in a farm which has a few "family" pets such as pigs, chickens, cow, goats and some rabbits.
I wouldnt recommend the site to families with children as there are no swings only a sandpit in the tent field.
We are definitely going back its just a matter of booking.

Just got back from a long weekend at this site.
Firstly, the contact made prior to our arrival was friendly, informative and polite, When we arrived we were made extremely welcome by Jan. The site itself is new and is still developing, plently of trees and shrubs have been planted and its looking great.
The pitches are great, love the BBQ on each pitch but as it pasted down with rain everyday we never got to use it! My only worry about this site is that its too good, and very soon will be popular, its that good! I just hope I can get a pitch when we want to return. Toilet block is about the best and cleanest I have seen anywhere, very modern, very clean and well placed for the small tent field as well as the caravan pitches.
This site is top drawer and its obvious to anyone who goes how much work and particularly how much thought has gone into its creation. Its family built, owned and run which in my book means its cared for and respected by those who own it, they rightly have a lot of pride in what they have acheived.
It is perfectly located for Buxton, we drove to Chatsworth and Bakwell without any hassle, everything seems so close by. The animals on site are great, they are penned a short distance from the pitches, they are clean and healthy and are extremely well looked after which is nice to see. Guests are actively encouraged to get close up to them, a box of fruit stands by the shop so you can grab an apple or two and go feed the goats, donkeys, rabbits and my particular favourites, the minature pigs.
In a nutshell, a cracking place, even though it rained everyday, we loved it.
EDIT!!!
I have just done them a website after our second visit, we had a great time.

We found the site and facilities in a very clean state for the two weeks we stayed. This is definatly one site we shall look forward to re-visiting many more times.

Wow, what a fantastic site. Very pleasant and helpful when booking. On our arrival we were greeted by Jan who was very friendly and made to feel very welcome. All pitches were hardstanding with grass between (ruralness still maintained, as opposed to the concrete jungle of some hardstanding sites). Each pitch has 16A electric, own water point, bin and barbeque. Amazing toilet and shower block. Many penned animals on site which my child loved feeding and petting despite sub zero temperatures! Nothing was too much trouble for them, milk and papers delivered to your door step daily if required. Very useful information office. Situated on bus route and perfectly located for Buxton and the Peak.

Well, what a fantastic campsite, I couldn't find anything to fault - the facilities were fantastic, extremely clean, with excellent mod cons. Our hosts Jan and Steve made our stay thoroughly enjoyable, would highly recommend, and can't wait to return in the Summer.

We were recommended this site in may 2004 one month after it opened. On pulling onto the site we were met by the owner who treated us like family from the onset. The site although is still being developed offers everything you would need,to enjoy a relaxing peaceful break. The showers, toilets etc are immaculate.there is a small shop on site which offers necessities and if they havent got it they will get it for you.Local farm produce is on offer which is useful on the personal bbq's you are provided with.We cannot fault this site or the owners which is why we keep going back.If you want a site with all the comforts of home we recommend CLOVERFIELDS.

At last,,, a wonderfull site where nothing is too much trouble.
Smart new facilities including a laundry room ,abring and borrow book shelf , and a disabled toilet are shortly to be addedto the list.
All pitches have 16A electric ,water point, rubbish bin, and barbecue , are well sized and spaced with small shrub borders .
A wonderfull site for relaxing or exploring derbyshire that has quickly become our favourite .

We have been Caravan Club members for almost thirty years.
We appreciate the quality that you know you will find on a Caravan Club site and therefore we rarely go elsewhere.
We couldn’t get a weekend pitch at Grin Low in Buxton, had seen the development at Clover Fields and decided to give it a try. What a great decision.
Booking the pitch had my wife saying ‘That was a nice phone call’ and it went upwards from there.
A very warm and smiling welcome; was followed by surprise at the size and quality of the pitch.
A level hard standing for the caravan with an adjacent manicured grass lawn for the chairs and table, to enjoy the splendid views, the tasteful landscaping and soak up the friendly atmosphere.
Even more surprise to find an individual water connection, 16v electrics and your own personal waste bin and high quality barbeque.
Site security was excellent and on leaving, the price had me saying ‘That can’t be right’, but it was.
The site is still being developed; the gents’ toilets and chemical disposal point are being improved but the overall impression is that here is a site that is very special, one that we will certainly let our caravanning friends know about and one which we will definitely revisit.
Thank you ‘Clover Fields’ for a super weekend.

The big toitel block is not finshed yet but but has two lovely Power shower (free of chage). It is a famliy run site very freindly and helpfull.
