Practical Caravans Top 100 Parks Awards 2003

Twitchen Parc is situated in the grounds of an Edwardian country house, and sits very close to one of Devon’s finest blue flag beaches, Woolacombe Bay, with fine national parkland surrounding it.

Most of the park is devoted to holiday homes, but it does have a comfortable marked area for touring caravans at the top of the park. Some pitches there have views over the hills down to the sea, too. Much of the touring area is newly developed, and includes 155 pitches with 16A electricity. Many of these have hardstandings and are arranged around attractively landscaped oval access roads. If you don’t need or want electric hook-up, there are unelectrified pitches in two open rally fields. These slope significantly, but the site provides levelling ramps.

Twitchen Parc has a wealth of fun and entertainment for all the family. It’s part of the Woolacombe Bay Holiday Park complex, so that means residents can use the facilities at the Golden Coast and Woolacombe Bay sites for free. A courtesy bus runs between these sites and the beach regularly though Twitchen itself isn’t short of things to do. There’s a modern entertainment complex with a licenced club, family lounge and restaurant, teenage disco and a cartoon lounge.

You can relax in the outdoor swimming pool, or the indoor pool which has a sauna. There is also a children’s paddling pool and fountain. If you want to swim in the sea, there’s a footpath down to the beach.
