This site is in a fantastic setting, with some great walks starting from the park.

The toilets/shower were clean & free. The only problem I had was they were a bit too hot for me, and there was no way to adjust the temperature.

One surprising thing was the number of dogs on site for a supposedly pet-free area!

the biggest problem with this site, however, was the pub/restaurant. the food was amongst some of the worst I've evern been served, and even getting a drink took forever.

Beautiful scenary. However, we were dealt with in a couldn't-care-less attitude on the night we got there (only 6pm). We had to walk from reception to their on site pub to look for the manager who was sitting quite happily puffing away at his cigarette. We were treated like someone who was homeless begging for somewhere to stay! He didn't even get out of his chair to welcome us. Anyway, when we did get to our holiday caravan home, we hadn't any gas or any heat and we were freezing. We were told, "We'll have to call out a plumber. Goodness knows how long that'll take". We were never offered another caravan to compensate, even though they weren't full. We decided to leave next morning and got our full refund. We'll never stay there again. Travelled 200+ miles to get there and so we decided to continue our holiday in a B&B, which was heaven!

Great site, lovely and quiet with super views. We were impressed with the facilities. Good kids play area and picturesque picnic table by a large stream were the little ones or big kids, can dig and paddle. Clean, hot showers but be warned they were so powerful they almost hurt, no good for small children but the site has a couple a half size baths for toddlers. You need to ask at reception for a passcode. Not to far from Windermere, you really feel like you are in the countrysideut you do need your own transport really.

hello!!!!

emma n stef here! we went camping in a tent with emma's uncle dad and cousins and it was great. staff were very friendly ;oP

there was lots of places to go (we climbed a fat a mountain! took us 3 hours to get up there and half an hour to get down... we had to run away from the sheep :oP) couldnt wait to get a shower after that!

the kids enjoyed it because the park was nearby and they could wander off on their own without us worrying about their safety.

fascilities were good, you could pay for electricity direct to your tent or you could use the plugs in the ladies loos :oD (perfect for stratening hair and listenin to music at the same time )

**who said camping wasnt glamourous hahahahahahaha**

This reviewer is a family with children, a camper

Visited this site in March 2005. I found this site to be extremely clean and well maintained. There is a shop on site which is well stocked and a campers kitchen. The site is located close to towns but also secluded enough to feel that you are in the countryside. The noise from the pub when it closes can be quite loud for a few minutes but this usually dies down. I would give this site 9/10 and will definitely be going back.

just spent a week here(10 adults,16 kids)and would like to recommend this site for families.plenty of local attractions, good shops in area, people very friendly and helpfull.scenery is breathtaking, much like the north of scotland but with more tree's.site has a bar, shop, games room, walks, parks, small stream to paddle in,and other camp ammenities.my only concern is about the shop,it being a "mace"i would like if prices had been slightly cheaper, this was my only fault. 9/10

Having been on, or stayed on about 12 campsites this year alone. I have to say that Limefitt is one that rates very highly. I first stayed here in the great summer of 1976 and have been a frequent visitor since.

The toilets and showers are amongst the best I have visited and is well run.

The only items I can think of are:-

1) that there could be more facilities available on site, ( there used to be grass skiing) but I think the new owners are going to build more?

2) extending the season by at least a week as not all school holidays are the same around the country.

3) Provide more tent pitches as there are never enough.

regards

john

We have visited Limefitt for the past 4 years. With two small children in tow! It is a lovely campsite with spotless toilet and shower blocks. Always roasting hot water on tap for the dishes. Play area really good but I think too far away from caravans. Take away food good although not open on a Tuesday which really snookered us as we only found this out after the shop had closed for the night! Good campers kitchen to sit in, cook and watch the telly! We will be back this year, it is hard to get my man to go anywhere else!!!

My wife and I have camped for a number of years both in the UK and in France. We have recently introduced our young children to the camping life and they love it. Our week at Limefitt was excellent and the site is, by far, the best we have ever visited over the past 20 years. We will undoubtedly return to Limefitt within the next two years.

I have been coming to limefit park for over 30 years, originally with my mother & father, now with my own family. I was lucky enough to win their competition a few years ago, when they were trying to find their longest seving customer, & what a great prize it was, 2 weeks in one of their luxury caravans.
I have been to many camping & caravan sites, in different parts of the country, but none of them come close to Limefit Park in my opinion, I think it is the most beautiful, peacful place there is.
the camp is immaculate, & the toilets & showers are as good, if not better than many hotels.

Limefitt park is a magnificent camp site nestled at the bottom of a beautiful and explorable mountain/hill.The camp site's pub, thehaybarn inn, is also an enjoyable sensation for alcoholics and dads all over the country.
The pitches are a brilliant green colour and the holiday home is brilliant.
